On Saturday (1 July), CCMC took part in MGS Carnival 2023. We are proud to have been involved, supporting our friends in the MGS community as they strove to raise funds for new Intergenerational programmes. All for a good cause!
The carnival was a fun-filled event with throngs of visitors checking out a wide myriad of stalls. There were so many varieties! Virtually everything was available - food from different cuisines, clothing and merchandise, beauty services, and of course, fun carnival games and rides!
MGS’s canteen, usually a sanctuary for hungry students, was transformed into a bustling hub during the carnival. CCMC’s enterprising members and staff woke up early to set up their respective stalls, preparing for what was to be a busy day ahead.
We had 3 stalls serving up their tastiest fare, namely:
Kampong Cafe (nasi biryani, kopi teh, vadai)
Korean Ministry (Korean-style hotdogs, corn dogs and snack)
Kueh-tutu (local sweet snack)
Their efforts paid off as the crowds started pouring in thick and fast. Imagine having little space to maneuver because of snaking queues! Still, our team managed to serve with smiles all around, braving the crowd, heat and lethargy to deliver the best meals possible.
As the day drew to a close, we reflected on our efforts. Everyone was tired, but feeling strong! All items were sold out - a testament to the popularity of the foods sold. In addition, we learned later MGS’s fundraising goal had been reached; our team felt so proud to contribute to a good cause!
“I felt happy that we could meet people directly and introduce our ministry. Many were pleasantly surprised to learn that there is a Korean Ministry in the school. Working and serving the Lord together in one spirit was especially meaningful to me," a member of the Korean Ministry told us. What an amazing testimony!
We give our heartfelt thanks to the organisers for having us and look forward to the next MGS Carnival! 😊
