Covenant Community Methodist Church (CCMC) held the installation and dedication of our 2023-24 Local Church Executive Committee (LCEC) on 14 January, at our Sunday service.
The LCEC is made up of a dedicated team of church volunteers who are committed to serving the Lord through ministry leadership.
What does the LCEC do?
“Have general oversight of the programme of the local church in pursuing the primary task of the local church.”
– Book of Discipline of the Methodist Church in Singapore
The installation & dedication is a yearly event that allows the church to learn who its leaders are. It is also to thank them for accepting their obligation and to challenge them to offer their best to the Lord, to the church, and to CCMC’s ministry in the world.
Loaves+Fishes took the opportunity to get to know some members of the 2023-24 LCEC, all of whom are serving on the LCEC for the first time, with three rapid-fire questions.
Angelia Poon | Committee Chairperson, Glowing Years Ministry
1) What does church ministry mean to you?
Church ministry means to be a servant leader to my ministry seniors. Through my ministry, I would like:
To see many seniors gather and socialise through ministry activities like IGL’s Rummy-O, Pickleball games
To help them stay relevant in today’s digital landscape
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership?
I'm grateful for the support I've received from many in GYM. It's heartening to see our seniors and young seniors actively participating in new activities. The church leaders' backing for our activities, especially for the Batam retreat is appreciated. And thanks to the young seniors who contributed with photography, making our fellowship moments memorable. It has also been encouraging to receive the support of our pastors as well!
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
I'm planning to do the Camino (Portuguese Way) in Portugal this year with my secondary schoolmates, and to complete the full Camino by 70.
Colin Wan | Committee Chairperson, Family Life Ministry
1) What does Church Ministry mean to you?
It means serving God and His people. In Family Life, this means serving God in our vision to empower families and enrich lives so that we may grow deep and reach wide.
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership
Have faith, just do it and let God lead the rest. The verse that convicted me to serve was Jeremiah 32:27: “behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?”
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
I have been attending CCMC since it started as a Preaching Point when I was a secondary school student.
Eddie Chau | Management Committee Chairperson, Sembawang Family Service Centre
1) What does Church Ministry mean to you?
It is like God has given me a responsibility which I will treasure and execute to the best of my capability
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership
Quite different from leadership in corporate as all of us are volunteers - the driving force is very different
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
More than half of my life, I dreamt in Cantonese. Lately, my dreams are mainly in English.
Joy Yeo | Committee Chairperson, Witness & Evangelism
1) What does church ministry mean to you?
It is a joy to be able to serve God through His church.
2) How do you feel about serving in ministry leadership?
it is such a blessing to work with a great committee and to be able to see God moving His projects through us to meet the church vision.
3) Tell us one interesting thing about yourself
My husband and I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes.
