New Year's Day Service

by Michelle Han

How did you spend your first day of 2023?

On the first of January 2023, CCMC held a combined service. Since it was Holy Communion Sunday, the auditorium was even more lively than usual with the little ones in attendance.

Pastor-in-charge David Gwee’s sermon topic delved into intentional discipleship, and what it meant to be a true follower of Christ. His message was based on Matthew 16:24-26.

‘Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?’

During Family News, all the members of the Local Church Executive Committee (LCEC) were introduced onstage. It was a moving sight witnessing the stage rapidly filling up as each member was called. The teams behind Worship and Music, and Covenant Kids were also recognised for their dedication and the congregation was invited to pray over them.

There is much labor that goes on behind the scenes, and this was a meaningful reminder to appreciate those in our midst. With the reopening of the 11am English Traditional service, willing hands are much needed across various teams. Do prayerfully consider lending support to the church. More details can be found in Family News.
